Grants of up to $10,000 per year to USA K-12 public and private school teachers and teams of teachers for projects that provide opportunities for teachers to improve classroom instruction. Eligible projects are those that integrate creative strategies that encourage critical inquiry and demonstrate observable effects on students.

Teachers will have the opportunity to reflect and write about their projects, as well as to share their results with other teachers.

Ideal candidates:
- Are eager to improve classroom instruction
- Are willing to document the new approach in detail
- Have an imaginative and well-considered plan for enriching classroom instruction

Books, materials, art supplies, stipends, technology, etc., are all within the scope of allowable budget items. Travel expenses are not often funded but are sometimes considered depending on the overall scope of the project. Stipends are considered but should not be the bulk of the budget.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Foundation awards grants to individuals in amounts up to $10,000 per year, for a maximum of $30,000 over three years.

Term of Contract:

You may apply for a one, two, or three year grant.

Eligible applicants:
- Are licensed k-12 teachers employed in public or private schools
- Have the background and experience to complete the project successfully
- Are willing to work in collaboration with the Foundation.

There are no geographical restrictions on the grant.

Awards are made to individuals. While you can have a team representing an institution, only one person can be the recipient.

Pre-Application Information:

- The application is available online from January 15 - April 15 (or until 350 submissions are received) each year.
- McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation’s Board of Trustees meet to review applications and determine funding in June of each year.
- Notifications of application status are sent on July 15 of each year.
- Grant proceeds are disbursed on August 15 of each year.
A project may have one or many participants involved in its planning and implementation. However, the Foundation does require that applications be submitted in the name of one individual, even if there are two or more participants involved in a single project.

Your application must include 3 recommendations. All recommendation letters must be uploaded by the authors of the letters of recommendation before the application due date (April 15) or before the Foundation reaches 350 application submissions. At least three letter files must be attached in order to submit your application. Remember, a limited number of applications are accepted every year and the application will close early if that limit is reached. Submit your application early!
