Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $200 and grants of up to $750 to South Dakota FFA Chapters, 4-H Clubs, and FCCLA Chapters for projects to enhance rural communities. Funding is intended for public safety activities and community improvements. Student participation is required for all projects.

The South Dakota Agricultural Foundation encourages South Dakotans to start thinking of projects in their schools and communities that can empower future agricultural leaders and professionals. The Building Rural Communities (BRC) grants were developed to demonstrate the importance of rural communities and the value of organizations that work together to improve rural life.

Requests may be made in the form of Basic Grants or Safety Grants.

  • Basic: The basic grant is used for community improvement projects.
  • Safety: The safety grant is used for projects that enhance public safety.

Funding is scored on the following criteria:

  • Community and student involvement 
  • Accomplishment of educational and project goals 
  • Justification of community need/benefit

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are open to 4-H Clubs, FFA Chapters, and Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapters. Any club or chapter in South Dakota can apply.
